Join Satin Ice Artist of Excellence Violet Lin Tran in this full day hands-on workshop of decorating fun creating a 3-tier "Pretty in Pink Ombre Ruffle Cake"!

This class is suitable for all levels of cake decorating enthusiasts.  Violet will demonstrate her techniques for how to ganache cakes for a perfect canvas and students will learn hands-on the basic techniques for covering a cake with fondant.  The fun techniques learned in this class can be used for a variety of different styles or adapted to suit any colour palette or theme.

In this 1-day hands-on workshop, you will learn:
- Violet’s basic technique for covering cakes with fondant (dummies will be used)
- techniques to create a two-toned statement bow and precisely apply a mid-tier central band
- the most effective technique for creating ombre colours in fondant
- how to create Violet’s signature V-Petal ruffles
- techniques for working with wafer paper
- techniques for colouring wafer paper
- to create a delicate wafer paper rose
- the best consistency of paste to use for each type of application
- Violet’s tried and true tips and tricks for clean results and perfect finishes

Cake dummies will be used in this class to save time and so your finished project can be kept for display.  Violet will do a live demonstration of her technique for how to ganache cakes to create a perfect canvas.  Each student will have the opportunity to cover one of the tiers with fondant using the techniques taught in class.

All materials are provided for this class.  You are welcome to bring your own apron and a pen to class.

This class is suitable for beginners with some working experience in fondant as well as cake decorating enthusiasts who want to refine their skills and learn new techniques as well as tips and tricks from Violet.  All techniques taught in this class are easily adaptable to other cake styles and designs and you get to take home your own version.

- effective techniques for creating perfect pinstripes
- techniques to create Violet's signature stylized gumpaste lotus
- techniques for creating delicate gumpaste cherry blossoms
- surface texturing using Violet's two-tone petal ruffles technique
- techniques for creating 2D toppers
- effective gold lustering techniques for even coverage
- to work with and use modelling chocolate to create textured branches
- the best consistency of paste to use for each type of application
- Violet’s tried and true tips and tricks for clean results and perfect finishes

Fondant covered cake dummies will be used in this class to save time and so your finished project can be kept for display.  Violet will do a live demonstration of her technique for covering cakes in fondant to achieve super sharp edges.  Extra dummies will be available for those that wish to practice during the time given for finishing touches.

About Violet

Violet is a Satin Ice Artist of Excellence. She is a mom of two who also ‘cakes’ on the side, creating creative custom cakes now for over a decade. She likes to say she is internet-taught but of course has learned most of her tricks from hands-on experience and through good old trial and error. Violet's personal style has developed over the years and her designs have become recognizable for their unique and distinctive use of bold colours and textures. Through experimentation, she has innovated many unique and stylized techniques which she shares through her popular social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram as well on her blog and website.

Her work has been featured in numerous magazines internationally, appearing in Brides Magazine (UK), Cake Masters (UK), Party Cakes (UK), Wedding Cakes and Sugar Flowers (UK), Cake Decoration and Sugarcraft Magazine (UK), Sweet Magazine (AU), American Cake Decorating Magazine (US), DIY Wedding Magazine (US), Sugar Magazine (India) to name just a few.
