Frequently Asked Questions
Q: WHAT IS YOUR MISSION?
A: Taste is paramount. Spreading the experience of good taste through lessons that emphasize on hands-on techniques and the use of top quality ingredients and tools in turn refines of our foodscape. Bringing in world class teachers, global trends, and international ingredients that are otherwise hard to reach here in Markham also in turn brings better taste for all. We are here, committed thus.
Q: I DON'T SEE A DATE FOR THE CLASS I WANT, HOW DOES THIS WORK?
A: Classes do not have a set date until someone signs up! We currently run on an "Open Calendar" format, where you can:
1) Pick your interested class
2) Book your preferred time slot
3) Class commence once it meets the minimum students to run.
Q: IS THERE A MINIMUM FOR CLASSES TO RUN?
A: There is! Our minimum number of students for a class to run is mostly 2 at this moment (unless otherwise noted). Please refer to each class for their number of minimum to run. Invite your friend now so your class is confirmed!
Q: WHEN DO I KNOW IF A CLASS IS CONFIRMED?
A: We will notify you by email or phone once a class is confirmed, meaning that there have been enough people signed up for it. The cut off time is 72 hours before the scheduled time. Please ensure the contact information you provide is correct.
Q: IS THERE TAX FOR YOUR CLASSES?
A: We are required to charge an additional 13% HST to all classes for our government!
Q: WHAT DOES CLASS FEE INCLUDE? DO I HAVE TO BRING ANYTHING?
A: Whether it is a hands-on or interactive demo class, we prepare all you would need. You can find details on each category in our class offerings. It is suggested to bring your own pen to jot down your notes!
Q: DO YOU OFFER DISCOUNT ON YOUR CLASSES?
A: We have a "buddy system" where you can sign up with your buddy and work together with 1 set of materials (exception for some classes). The second person will only be charged half of the class fee. For example: A class of $65, the second person will only be charged $65 x 50% = $32.5.
We occasionally have early bird offers for “Feature Classes” and Courses, you are welcome to sign up for our newsletter.
Alternatively you can also check out our Prepaid Points (scroll to the bottom of page), where you will be saving for individual lessons!
Q: HOW DO I PAY?
A: Online payment is required at the time of registration. We also welcome payment in person by cash, credit card, debit card, or using our gift certificate. For Prepaid Points, you can purchase directly here on the website.
Q: I PAID ALREADY, WHAT IF I HAVE TO CANCEL?
A: Refund cannot be issued for any class registration; however, studio credit will be issued when a cancellation notice is provided by telephone or email, or in person, at least 72 hours prior to the start time of the registered class.
Q: I DON'T HAVE A LOT OF EXPERIENCE, CAN I TAKE A LEVEL 2 OR LEVEL 3 CLASS?
A: Absolutely! Difficulty levels are for reference only. Higher level indicates more recipes and techniques. With guidance of our chef instructor, you can certainly take a level 2 or 3 class!
Q: WOULD I BE ABLE TO BRING HOME A FINISHED PRODUCT IF I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE?
A: Rest assured, you are in good hands! While you will enjoy the fun class experience, with guidance of our chef instructor, you will certainly leave with what we intend for you to bring home!
Q: HOW OFTEN DO YOU CHANGE YOUR CLASSES? AM I ABLE TO SIGN UP FOR A CLASS IF IT IS NO LONGER ON YOUR LIST?
A: We rotate our classes every 3 months except for Wagashi 和菓子, which is every 4 months. You can still sign up for current classes until new classes are updated on the website! If you saw a class earlier that has been taken down, please inquire! It is possible!

Q: IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CLASS AND A COURSE?
A: Yes -- a class means an individual, one-time duration when a lesson occurs. On the other hand, a course means a series of these individual classes with a shared theme set up, spanning often over many weeks.
Q: DO YOU ISSUE TAX REFUND FOR YOUR COURSES?
A: While you may learn some hardcore pastry and culinary skills in our lessons, our studio is classified as a recreational school. Therefore, we cannot issue T2202 for tax purposes. That is partly why we teach so much in every single class too!
Q: WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR A DISCOUNT?
A: Students will be eligible for a 10% discount ON THE DAY OF their class on any ingredients, tools, and appliances available in our showroom, which means that you don't have to wait until boxing day to bring home a new KitchenAid! If a product is on backorder, you can still enjoy the 10% discount as long as you pay in full on the day.
Members of the Canadian Society of Sugar Artistry receive a 10% discount at anytime, but the discounts do not stack.
